Here’s What To Do After Drinking Too Much Alcohol Before Bed

You don’t have to be an alcoholic to have the experience of drinking a bit too much before bed, laying down in bed, feeling like the room is spinning, and just generally having a bad time.

So, it’s no wonder you’re here looking for a solution to that issue.

If you’re sober enough to find an article about this, then chances aer you probably aren’t drunk right now, but if you’re drunk and trying to sleep right now, we’ll cover the advice for you first, right now.

Did You Drink Too Much Before Bed?

If you’re dealing with this right now, it’s a good sign that you’re able to operate your phone and think to look up this article, so that’s a good start.

Still, that doesn’t mean you couldn’t use a hand falling asleep and putting this behind you.

Drink some water, use the washroom, brush your teeth, just go through your normal bedtime routine as much as you can.

If you feel like you’re going to throw up, it can be a really good idea to get that up before you get into bed. Passing out and getting sick in your sleep can be dangerous. If you’re able to get sick before bed, then have some more water, and stay up for a bit to make sure you’re feeling better, that’s better than passing out and getting sick in bed.

What To Do After Drinking Too Much Alcohol Before Bed:

Short of having a time machine, you’re usually just going to have to wait it out and take this as a lesson to not drink as much next time.

In addition to drinking some water and making sure you don’t pass out when you feel like throwing up, here are some other things that you can do.

Set an alarm: Do you need to be up in the morning? Set an alarm before you pass out. It might be a bit trickier to wake up in the morning, so maybe even give yourself a little bit of extra time.

Make sure you’re safe: You don’t want to pass out in a strange place, so do your best to get home first, or make sure you’re around friends, or just in a safe place in general. If you had candles burning, blow them out, make sure you didn’t start any food in the oven, etc.

You can take a Tylenol or Advil if you have a headache. If the room feels like it’s spinning, just lay down, and do your best to deal with it. It will pass once the alcohol passes through your system.

The Real Problem… And When It’s Time To Fix It:

Most people who drink, even casually, are going to have the occasional experience where they drink too much. It usually just results in being uncomfortable for a few hours, sleeping it off, maybe a bit of a hangover, then carrying on.

The big problem is when this becomes a daily thing for somebody. If you’re getting so drunk before bed every night that it’s causing problems, all we can really do is strongly encourage you to reflect on that. It doesn’t have to be this way.

If you’re open to the idea of drinking less, and having a more comfortable life, and working through some of your issues that make you feel like drinking everyday, then take one minute of your time and call the number at the top of this page to learn more about the help that exists for you.
